I've been looking into getting my first compact tractor and have pretty much settled on the 790 as I'm not doing that much continuous heavy work with it. Pricing on the unit (4wd,mid pto, turf tires) at 11,700 seems in line and the 70 loader at 2695.00 in the ballpark. However, I got the price on the 7 backhoe attachment this morning and am still suffering sticker shock.....$6299.00 with rear hyd??? whewww that seems like a lot or am I just needing a welcome to the real world of attachment prices? It being over 1/2 the cost of the tractor seems plenty. Thoughts? Opinions?

Welcome to the world of JD dealers and name brand attachments. My dealer charges full list price for any attachmnents, and the JD list is MUCH higher than other brands. Hopefully someone can speak up and tell you who makes the JD hoe, and you can buy it from the manufacturer or from a dealer. This should same a few bucks from the JD price.
